Message from the Deaconate

The Paisley Daily Express has published today that Thomas Coats Memorial Church is closing and the impression given is that this is immediate. The true facts are that we are looking to the future when the congregation can no longer maintain the building. We hope to pass the grade A listed building, when the time comes, to various bodies who will keep it running as a going concern for all the people who use it presently. This will take considerable time and will not happen soon. The church was built for the people of Paisley and, as such, we hope to keep it as part of Paisley’s heritage.

Sorry to see the article in “The Herald” today regarding the future of your Baptist Cathedral. Surely under The Lord there is a future for you!. We are a Clergy Couple in the Ministry of the Church of Scotland, and were Ordained forty years last year. Isabel is the Minister here at Buckie North with Rathven. Isabel was an Ordained assistant at Paisley Abbey in 1974. If there is anything we can do to help please let us know.
    Regards,
    Alex and Isabel
